Free vs. Premium
-
I currently have a Free account and theme. I am looking to add video and audio to my blog and saw that in order to do so I must upgrade to Premium. When I upgrade to Premium does this give me premium themes for free or do I still need to pay extra for themes as well. Also visa-versa, if I purchase a Theme, will I still need to upgrade to Premium to add video/audio? Thank you!!

I suppose by calling a bunch of themes and a plan “Premium” there’s bound to be some confusion. If you buy a Premium theme it is a one time payment and then you have that theme forever. That price doesn’t include the Premium plan though which is a different thing entirely. A Premium plan is $99 every year. That price doesn’t include a Premium theme. If you require one of those you pay for that too. The Business plan, being substantially more expensive than the Premium plan does include free Premium themes though.

Thanks so much for your reply and explanation. I thought this was the case but was confused about the difference. Now I am trying to figure out if a Premium Theme includes audio/video, and if so, that sounds like a great plan instead of paying 99$ every year for the premium plan. Though… I have a feeling audio and video uploading might require a Premium Plan, I’ll need to do some more research… Thank you again!

No, a Premium theme has nothing to do with audio video. That needs a Premium plan due to the extra storage involved. Of course you could always stay with a free plan (and theme) and upload video to YouTube and embed the links on your WordPress.com site.

Ah haaa, okay okay now I understand and your YouTube idea is really smart, didn’t even think of that. I was hoping to record my voice for my blog and upload the audio in order for people to listen to my blog post if they can’t read it (like a bootleg podcast) lol.
Thank you for taking the time to reply! So appreciated and helpful!
