Free vs Premium plan
-
Hi,
I would appreciate if you could help me with the below questions:
1. Can I take my domain name with me in case I decide to leave you?
2. The domains last for a year, what if I leave WordPress completely and do not join any commerce webs, what would happen then?
3. Could you confirm if your company provides email address for me and my employee e.g. in my case (email visible only to moderators and staff)
4. How many people can have access to website who can make the same changes to the website as me? How would they be different than me. Can they have less rights?
5. Does Premium plan allows to have a ‘subscription’ services to clients? For example, I would like to sell subscriptions to clients and I am just curious whether they can buy my services. If so, would there by additional charges?
6. Can I have subscription based services on a Free plan?Kind regards,
Temur

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your questions! I’d be more than happy to help clarify these points for you. Let’s go through each of your questions step by step:
1. Can I take my domain name with me in case I decide to leave you?
Absolutely. You can transfer your domain to another registrar after 60 days from the date of the domain registration. This is a transfer lock that all domain registrars have in place. Alternatively, you can also choose to keep your domain with us and point it to a site hosted elsewhere.
2. The domains last for a year, what if I leave WordPress completely and do not join any commerce webs, what would happen then?
All WordPress.com upgrades, including domains, are set to automatically renew before they expire. If you disable the auto-renewal feature or remove your payment method, your domain will expire.
3. Could you confirm if your company provides email address for me and my employee e.g. in my case (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Yes, we do. We provide email hosting, allowing you to create as many email addresses as you need using your domain. You can learn more about our Professional Email hosting here: https://wordpress.com/professional-email/
4. How many people can have access to website who can make the same changes to the website as me? How would they be different than me. Can they have less rights?
You can add as many people as you want to your site, and you can assign them different roles based on the level of control they should have over your site. There are several roles, ranging from Administrator to Viewer, each with varying levels of access. To learn more about these roles and how to invite others to your site, please read this: https://wordpress.com/support/invite-people/user-roles/
5. Does Premium plan allows to have a ‘subscription’ services to clients? For example, I would like to sell subscriptions to clients and I am just curious whether they can buy my services. If so, would there by additional charges?
Absolutely. With the Premium plan, you can utilize our Payments feature to set up subscription services. To learn more about this feature, please read this: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/payments/. If you’re looking for a more advanced setup, consider upgrading to our Business plan, which allows you to use WooCommerce—a powerful software that will enable you to sell and manage any type of service.
6. Can I have subscription based services on a Free plan?
Yes, the Payments feature is available on the free plan, but please be aware that the fees are much higher compared to our other plans. This is something to consider when deciding which plan is best for your needs.
I hope this answers all your questions. Please feel free to reach out if you need further clarification on any of these points or if you have any more questions. We’re here to help.
