free ‘*.wordpress.com’ name
-
Hi there!
Thanks for everything, btw – been a wordpress customer/developer since 2008.
Here’s my dilemma – i want a certain wordpress.com domain prefix, let’s say ‘fluffybunny.wordpress.com’ So, when I try to set that up, I am told it is not available, but when I go to fluffybunny.wordpress.com, I get this message: ‘fluffybunny.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.’
So – if the site has been deleted, why can’t I have the name? Although, I guess it could still be registered to an account, but just not have a site there? And the person could have taken down the site, but not closed their account?
At any rate, is there any way to release that name? Or even ask the account-holder if they are still using it? Or something I haven’t thought of?
Thanks for any advice,

Deleted WordPress.com subdomain addresses aren’t recycled. If that address wasn’t deleted by you less than 30 days ago it is gone forever. You’ll have to choose a similar but different address.
