Free wordpress users vs Upgrade wordpress users

How can we actually see and identify the difference of both?

I have seen few blogs using header images on some themes that doesn’t allow it until much much later found that they actually bought an upgrade. Question is, since a url address after an upgrade does not omit “wordpress” as their domain name, can we at least identify these blogs somewhere on the dashboard?

Today I’ve come across to a blog using the same theme as mine (Unsleepable) with a header image and it made me wonder why I didn’t have that. See, I almost send my feedback to ask why I can’t have it in my blog.

You know little things can be confusing sometimes.

Why do you care? I’m not sure I understand where you’re going with this: are you asking all upgrade-owners to be tagged by something other than just the benefits of the upgrade? I would think it wouldn’t really matter to you what other people are doing. If you see something you want to do and can’t figure out how to do it, searching the forums is a good place to start. If that doesn’t answer your question then an email to support is the way to go.

In some point yes. For those who wish to upgrade they can actually see whether it pays off to have the css or not. Searching the forum is indeed the place to start but for the beginners it’s a big place for them to find out their answer. Say I’ve read about a TAG CLOUD? What does it do? Can a FREE wordpress user uses that?

And oh, this is just an idea.

    knoizki,
None of the functionality you are discussing is down to the custom css – changes in header images is available on many of the themes (like mine – tarski). If you want a particular look, try out several of the themes and then decide on one.
The different domain (like mine) is a different upgrade, paid for separately.
If you are looking for information on the tag clouds, try searching the forums:

Thanks ozrisk for the reply. I know what you mean, change theme, customize header image, tag clouds or upgrades – I’ve done all that in the past. What I mean is, using free wordpress, how can we actually distinguish a blog is a paid upgrade from wordpress.com and if it is, can we spot the difference? As you know many of us uses (almost) the same themes. I’m using a free wordpress and many have actually asked me if my blog was upgraded or that I’m using CSS because they can’t see much difference in any way. I’ve been thinking whether I should or should not buy an upgrade if there’s nothing really much difference in the functionality.

As for your url, I can easily detect that it’s a paid/owned domain blog.

    – if they have a non-wp.com domain name but yet you get the blue bar along the top, they have the domain mapping upgrade.

    – if they have a nonstandard theme but yet you get the blue bar along the top, they have the CSS upgrade.

Gotta admit I can’t htink of an easy way to detect the space upgrade with sitting there and counting up the space used for their pictures. Ditto on the private blog upgrade.

Also do note that some of us have the upgrades but have been comp’ed for them in some way like me for helping out here.

Still if folks posting indicated if they are on the upgrade or not it would help the helpers. I am just getting my crystal ball out of the loft…………….

Only place we’ve run into that is with editing the CSS. Most folks state that they have it when they ask questions here in teh forums.

Thanks for all your help. Now that I’m clear here, I’ll consider the upgrade next time.

I would think, on reflection, that those who’ve gotten the upgrade would probably have blogged about it, so why not do a Google search on site: wordpress.com for “upgrade” and see what they say? I got a comp’ed domain name upgrade because…I dunno why. But you bet your sweet bippy I blogged about it.
