Freeing up username of previously closed account

  I originally registered my blog under one username/email adddress, which was subsequently switched to a different username/email address to create a blog ownership.
  So the initial username should have been canceled and thus available by now.
  I’d like to use that original username for use as contributor (separate from blog administrator username).
  How can I request to free up the original username, so I can register it anew?

  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but usernames never recycle. They cannot be freed up.

  Change Your Username

  Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use.

  -If you changed the username on that account to a new name, it will never be available.

  -If you had that username active on an account and closed the account while that name you want to recover was the username, you can reopen the account within 30 days. ONLY that account can use that username.
