freewebsites.com links in WordPress comments preventing submission

    For this comment:

    http://sharetactics.wordpress.com/2007/03/09/zoho-creator-as-a-platform-part-i/#comment-102

I had to replace all mention of ‘http://sharetactics.freewebsites…’ with ‘http:sharetactics.freewebsites…’ (i.e., had to remove slashes after scheme:) before the comment would post.

Until doing this, the comment submission executed without any visible error but the comment never showed up and never showed up in Akismet Caught Spam, either.

I did a little more testing by trying to add more comments and each time I changed those links to read ‘http://sharetactics.freewebsitez…’ (s/s/z/), the comment would post without any problems at all.

What I ended up doing was posting the comment using the ‘http:sharetactics…’ format, then going into my comment editor and adding the ‘//’s ipso facto. At this point the comment looked fine and the links appeared as they should.

Is there some spam-related config that doesn’t like the freewebsites.com domain?

    Thanks in advance,

    Pete

There are a few problems right now with comments getting sent to akismet plus the “I have no spam” akismet black hole.

This might not be a problem with the web site, but rather with any comments that contain links.

Insert my standard “I’m not staff” and “I have no idea what Akismet’s scoring methods are” disclaimers.

That maybe the issue. I know freewebsites.com is in my own Bayes/ Spam Assassin email database as a spam source. I don’t know if it would be in there for Akismet though.

We’ve been told that any comment marked as spam and made for a post older than 30 days is getting autodeleted. That may be what you’re running into.

edit: This may be occuring as I’m marking comments that Akismet missed as spam and they’re disappearing completely.
