French/ English blog

    Hi All,

My question is simple: My site has static pages and a blog all within richardjonesartist.com.

It is currently all in English, but I would like the EXACT same site to appear also in French. Is there something that exists that helps people choose what language they prefer to look at my blog/pages in when they arrive at my homepage? Ideally, I would like a small icon at the top of my homepage that simply says FRENCH/ENGLISH, and the person simply clicks on their preference. Is this possible?

Many, many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

The labguage switch icon you refer to cannot be used on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. We can only set a single language here> Settings > General
The best way to do this IMO is to register two blogs (one English – one French) and then create custom menus and interlink the two using custom links.

edit: “labguage” was meant to be “language”

    Wow, quick response, thanks!

Sounds a bit complicated! My account is premium, does this change anything?

No. There is no such thing as a premium account at WordPress.com. We can purchase specific upgrades from WordPress.com but that does not change what we can do on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
Same Rules Apply – No upgrade enables the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required abide by our Terms of Service.
