Frequent comments

Comment display. I have one reader who frequently leaves comments to my posts. I appreciate the comments, however I am not wanting comments to appear only from this one individual in my recent comment section. How can I arrange the comments on my blog section for recent comments so that I can have a selection of people shown that leave comments? I would like to have a variety of commentor’s displayed in my recent comment area. Thanks for your help on this one.

They ‘latest comments’ widget is not configurable and will show recent comments from everyone. There is no way to do this. Sorry!

Thanks Trent. How to I approve the comments for my blog, but not have them show up in recent comments?

The only way they will not show up in your sidebar as Recent Comments is to remove the widget. And as this issue is resolved would you please mark it so? Tx :)

    Craig,

Just take the recent comments widget off until you have a greater variety of commenters. All recent comments will show up in it, and you have no control over which ones.

    Edit: @TT: jinx ;-)

If you set up your blog to approve all comments before they show up on your site (and hense the recent comment list) you can go to Admin => Options => Discussion and check the first box:

    Before a comment appears:
An administrator must always approve the comment

If you want to make it so comments from people that already have comments in don’t have to go through the approval process, check this one as well:

Comment author must have a previously approved comment

This is for everyone again and not user specific.

    Hope that helps.

otherwise you can reply to comments by editing your commenter’s comment and inserting yours in it. that way you get to reply, and it won’t show in the recent comments widget. there are people who don’t like this method though, because commenters outside of wordpress won’t be able to tell if you’ve replied through the number of comments in the post (ie. he’s the only one to comment in the post, and if it still shows 1 comment at the main page, he’s assume you didn’t reply).
