friends blog update notification

  I am looking for a solution on how to have my wordpress blog tell me when another blog I follow has been updated.

  For instance, on the right side of my old blog http://thenewopenshaws.blogspot.com/, there is a list of my favorites, and a time stamp ( and order) of when they were updated. Is this possible to replicate in wordpress?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi. The simplest way would be to add your friends’ blogs to your sidebar using an RSS widget:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/
  You could set it so that it only displays the latest post along with the date.

  If they are WordPress.COM blogs you can add them to Readomatic on your Dashboard – works nice – I have several WordPress.com sites I follow and they are in the Readomatic and I just need to log-in and check –
