Friends can't comment or Like
-
Friends who come to my blog cannot comment without providing an email address, or click “Like” without logging onto WordPress, which they are not members of. I searched for help and it talks about a “Discussion’ box on an open post, but there is no such box. How can I set my blog so anyone can post comments or click “Like?” Thanks very much.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The “Discussion” box is the comment box. It is on all your posts.
You can change your comment settings under Settings->Discussion, but ONLY WordPress.com members can Like posts, unless you’ve enabled the Facebook Like, in which case only Facebook members can Like your posts.

Thanks a lot! I did figure out the Discussion settings. Since I don’t want to enable Facebook Like, is there any way to delete the button from WordPress? I have been googling but can’t find it.

You’re welcome. :) This is the main link to all wordpress.com support documentation. http://en.support.wordpress.com Take note that the searchbox there returns results from both forum threads and from the documentation. This is the link to a 9 part series which is a tutorial for learning how to blog here at wordpress.com. I recommend that you use it. :) http://learn.wordpress.com/

:) As mistiinseattle who started this thread now has successfully set up commenting on her blog and all other questions have been answered this thread is “resolved”.

I set up my sharing settings and the preveiw showed that readers would be able to go into my page and click to share by email, FB, and twitter. However, when I logged out of my account and went to http://www.jlep.wordpress.com like a regular reader would, I don’t see any share buttons available at the bottom of my page. I do see where they can click and comment, but not share.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

The sharing icons are visible when you click the post title link or comment link and the post opens on it’s own page.

Thanks timethief. I did go back after you said that and hit the comment button and post title buttons, and you are right. I saw the share buttons. I don’t think everyone would know to do that so I was wondering if there was a way I could make these buttons show immediately when they open my page. My blogs are already open so they would have no reason to click on the post title.
Now I just went over to your blog and love the format. Since yours all say (read more), the reader has a legitmate reason to click on the post title and would therefore see your share buttons. How did you make it so that are articles are shortened like that?
I also really like your sidebar. And some of the titles of your blogs look really interesting. How did you do a sidebar? My webpage is straight up and down. And you even have categories like About, etc… across the top. How?
Oops you know what, I see your blog is about tips. So I will give read through your blog for the answers to the above, they’re probably already in there. lol. Thanks so much for the prompt response.

You can make the sharing buttons visible by going to your settings and allowing share buttons on index pages as well.
