Friends Finding Me Via Facebook

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a anonymous blog that is completely separate from my Facebook account, and yet I have friends who have found it via the “Find Friends” option via Facebook. I have not connected this anonymous blog to my Facebook account, and yet somehow it’s still linked together (I have no idea how). I would like to prevent this from happening as my anonymous blog is not something I want friends and family reading.

There is a way to dissociate blogs by creating a separate username account with a different email address and then following the steps to make the new username account an Admin and transferring one blog to that account. Hi timethief,

    Thanks for answering my question.

The thing I don’t understand is, I don’t think I need to dissociate this blog. It’s a blog I created with an anonymous email and name and it should not be linked to my facebook account (or I just don’t understand how it’s linked to my facebook account when I never connected it to facebook). I do have other WordPress blogs, but they are all registered under different emails/accounts.

In the event that I somehow did link them, if I read your instructions carefully, I have to register a new email and transfer. If I do this, will I lose all my current followers?

Your username is eatingdisorderstuff and the blog URL is http://eatingdisorderstuff.wordpress.com/

The e-mail address registered with your WordPress.com account is your unique identifier. You will notice that when you sign up, we do not require any other information. As such, this is how we are able to verify ownership of blogs and accounts; it is very important to remember and update it as necessary. http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/

Note: You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

We try the change here first > http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/

Not if you have Staff transfer them for you.

BTW I don’t know how your pseudonym was revealed and how your blog was located. I only know that there is no such thing as being anonymous on the web. Cyber tracking is not very challenging for most experienced internet users as we all leave digital breadcrumb trails.

See here eatingdisorderstuff Google search results.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Making a blog private, deleting blog content and/or deleting blogs does not remove any indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.

    Hi timethief,

I’m well aware my blog is on the internet. That’s fine with me as long as it does not reveal my personal identity. I made it private for now until I could resolve this issue; it will be public again later today.

I’ve seemed to fix the problem by changing the email used for admin purposes only. Now my blog does not show up when my friends use “Find Friends” via Facebook. Strange, but at least it’s resolved. Thanks for all your help!

That’s good news. Best wishes with this.
