From .com to .org

Trying to export-import, but think I may have goofed by not exporting from .com site before setting up new install. How do I get the file I need?

Unless you deleted the blog (and it doesn’t sound as if you did) it still exists. Did you have the domain mapping upgrade? If so, go to it under its old name — whatever.wordpress.com.
If not, what exactly happens when you try to access it?

I get a server not found error message.
I registered a non-wordpress domain name with a registrar and was pointing my wordpress.domain.com to the new domain name. I changed that for the purposes of hosting wordpress.org on dreamhost. Did that mess me up? I don’t think I had a domain mapping upgrade.

What is/was the url of your blog here?
I don’t think wordpress.com domains can be repointed…only those with a domain name upgrade. It’s the domain (name) you’re repointing, not the contents. There’s no automatic redirect.

Only an index in both places. At this point, the solution I have in mind might not be the right one, so I’d suggest you contact support here and at DH (you can do so from your admin panel there) and get this sorted properly.
Sorry. I haven’t encountered this before.

Thank you VERY much for your time! I will contact support…they weren’t available last I checked…
