From .com to .org (WordPress)
-
Ok I need some help on this, since I don’t want to read 10 pages, not for being lazy but lack of time. If someone would be nice to help me out on this. I want to make my transaction from WordPress.com to .org, since I will be able to put Google adsense and get some money out of my site. Now, my questions is, how do I do this. I have no idea about web hosting or anything. Can someone give me a small walkthrough to all this? And just wondering, suppossly I need to get a webhost that supports wordpress… Is there any free web hosting that supports wordpress, and how much do they cost? And after I get the webhost, and install wordpress.org. Is it going to work just like wordpress.com In another words. Would I get like the same template that I have, and would it work like a blog. in other words, having more authors that can just go to WordPress.org and update the site like in .com Thanks a lot, and sorry if I make little sense, I’m in a rush. But thanks a lot.

Is there any free web hosting that supports wordpress, and how much do they cost?err, sounds contradicting.
why are you in a rush anyway? if you don’t know anything about going self-hosted and don’t have time, i’m afraid you better have money to hire someone to do the work for you.

Well I was at work. What I meant by that was that if there was any free web hosting, and if there is not. How much do the cost? Yeah I was thinking about that. But I think I can do it in the little free time that I have. For now, what I want basically is open up with .org and use the same blog I have in .com… Is that possible, and how? thanks a lot.

to my limited knowledge, there isn’t such a thing as free webhosting, though wp.com as a free blog host would probably come as close as that.
you could start by reading this http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/can-i-migrate-my-blog-from-here-to-another-blog-somewhere-else/ and from there on read some more on your own research about installing your own self-hosted wordpress blog. it’ll be reading of more than 10 pages and perhaps even more, but that depends on how quick you learn and how much you know about self-hosting.
as i said, if you have little free time and you want to go self-hosted quickly, then the best bet is hiring someone to do it for you.

Your goal, hilarious, to me. I paid for a host, a domaine name –and went to work on having my own site. 14 MONTHS later: I quit.
Vowed to never try again. The goal of techies: NOT to deal with human type people/explain Thing One. –That’s why they Invent words –for obstuse dense stuff they make up –‘forget’ to translate.
If you don’t know tech language/how to do code, etc., etc., etc., Either: take a course or hire somebody. If you don’t know how to build a website: you ain’t gonna do it “quick” or any other way, Believe it, lol….
