From Drupal to WordPress

    Hi,

so I’ve been a long time drupal user (www.nigelcooke.com) and now want to move to wordpress. I do however want to try and import my current stories from drupal to wordpress.

Looks like the best option would be to install drupal on my webhost and convert the database from drupal to wordpress format.

I would however like to host my blog on the wordpress servers and just use domain redirection ($10 per year) to re-direct http://www.nigelcooke.com to monkeyleader.wordpress.com

So my question is how do I get my drupal database (which Ive just dumped to a file using mysqldump) into wordpress format and into my monkeyleader.wordpress.com blog.

    Any help much appreciated.

    thanks,

    Nigel

“Looks like the best option would be to install drupal on my webhost and convert the database from drupal to wordpress format. “

That’s what I would do. If you convert to WP 2.3 then you can export the file you need here from the Manage > Export menu.

But I want to import into wordpress .. not export from wordpress ?

I’m not familiar with drupal or how to convert it, but any sort of database file cannot be imported here. So the database needs importing into a WP install. Once there, WP can export the contents in a format that a blog here can use.

For the conversion though you will be better checking at http://wordpress.org/support for those details.

An update .. so I want to go down the install wordpress on my server (hosted by web-mania)

I already have a database listed and when i tried to create a new one it spouted that I didnt have access – perhaps you can only have 1 database at a time?

monkeyleader: refer to the link in mark’s post above. this is the forums for bloggers hosted by wordpress only – you have to go to wordpress.org for support of your self-hosted blog.
