from godaddy to wordpress

  Looking to run an online store and ran into some limitations with Godaddy’s template and setup. Would like to have a little more freedom with customizing the code and modifications. The site has been finished on Godaddy and would like to change a few things, however I am unable to due to the sites template parameters and limitations. How should I go about switching to wordpress? would I have to recreate the site from scratch?
