From Self-Hosted to Business plan
-
Hi,
I have a self-hosted WordPress website (at GoDaddy) and I would like to transfer it – domain included – to wordpress.com – business plan.
If it’s possible, how can I do that?
Thanks,

Hello there,
See here for details in regard to all available upgrades. http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions unless they have the $299. per year Business upgrade. See here for ecommerce details http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and purchase upgrades at > Store > My Upgrades
Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
Your options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/ -
I would like to transfer it – domain included
WordPress.com does not accept domain name transfers but mapping to an existing domain can be done. It’s $13 per year rather than $18. for registering a new domain.
Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.
Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
For moving your content please see http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-from-wordpress-org

P.S. http://store.wordpress.com/plans/ The business upgrade includes a custom domain and as I mentioned above there is a $5 difference when mapping an existing domain so I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up.

Hi there!
That is possible. I would first create a new WordPress.com blog where all of your old content will be transferred to.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then, follow these instructions on exporting your content and importing it into the new blog.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-from-wordpress-org
Once the import is successful, I would purchase the WordPress.com Business upgrade from our store.
Next, setup your existing domain to point to our servers with the domain mapping upgrade.

If you need any help along the way, please let me know. I’d be more than happy to assist you further. Thanks!
