Front Page: Circles Showing Image, Each Circle Is One CATEGORY

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

So this is exactly what I’m looking for. I was hoping there was a way to do this on one theme or another or somehow or another.

    1. I would like my front page to look basically as the SPUN theme: a bunch of circles with pictures from those posts.

    2. However, instead of the circles being my POSTS in order, as on SPUN, I would like each circle to be one CATEGORY. So I might have ten circles, one for each of my CATEGORIES, e.g., LANGUAGE, DIETING, POLITICS, etc.

    3. The image for each circle would update automatically to the image for the newest post in that category.

    4. When you click on the circle, it would bring up a list of posts, in date order from most recent to oldest, which are so tagged. Like this: https://doggerelizer.com/category/film/

I hope I’m being clear on exactly what I’m looking for and how this differs from what is (apparently) offered by the SPUN theme.

    Thank you for your time.

    Bryan

    Hi Bryan,

We don’t have any free themes that work in the way you described. You could, however, manually upload an image of a circle to a post or page and then link it to your category page. We have documentation on linking an image to another page here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/image-links/

For example, to link your image to a listing of posts in the “books” category on Spun’s demo site, you would use the following URL:

    https://spundemo.wordpress.com/category/books/

As you can see from the above URL, Spun will automatically organise and style posts the way you wish on the actual category page.

Let me know if that’s clear or if you have any further questions.
