Front Page Formatting

My formatting does not show up in the small version of my posts that appears on the front page. I said to show my whole post but it only shows the first few lines and any spacing and bold/italics I have added do not appear on this front page view

    1) “I said to show my whole post “.
There’s no such option in Origin. If you mean the option in Settings > Reading, that’s for your feed, not the actual posts on your blog.

    2) The theme is designed to display excerpts on the main page. When auto-excerpts are displayed or coding is removed, so no formatting: no paragraph breaks, no bold or italics, no links, no images etc.
If you wish to display full posts, you can create custom excerpts: switch the editor to Text (=code), select all, copy, paste into the Excerpt module, Update.
Note one: if you’re not seeing the Excerpt module while on the post editor screen, click Screen Options (top right) to enable it.
Note two: using this technique you can display everything (with its correct formatting) except objects inserted via a shortcode (such as videos or audio players).

So if you really want full posts on your main page, the right solution is to switch to a different theme.

I don’t want the full post to show on the first screen – just the first few lines to retain their formatting. The Excerpt module seems to do the trick – thank you!!

You’re welcome. I replied based on your “I said to show my whole post”. But of course the Excerpt module can be used for a few lines as well. To retain bold, italics, links etc, you’ll need to copy the part you want (including its code) from the Text editor.
