Front page help?

Ok, if you take a look at my front page, you will see the one and only post I have. I just started this site and really don’t have much knowledge of what I am doing- pretty much winging it here. My blog is going to contain posts on several different topics and I usually blog alot, maybe 3 or 4 posts a day. Is it possible to have sections under my front page that shows the most recent post in a category? Like, if you were to look at a news website, they will have it sectioned off in categories where you can find the most recent posts in sports, entertainment, etc. Or is this something that my theme works against? Any suggestions would be appreciated, I guess I really don’t know what questions to ask……..
(I know alot of you will probably not be too thrilled about my post on there but I am not asking for a debate at the moment, just help with the design)

A website and a blog are different. A post and a page are different. In a blog you have only one dynamic page that will automatically display your most recent post on top. This cannot be changed. Please read this entry to understand the differences between the two ue. a post and a page
