Front page image taking too long to show when website opens

    Why is my front image taking too long to appear on my opening page, its low res?

    I’m not sure what you mean by taking too long to appear. It was only a matter of seconds for me, but I’m on broadband.

    Also, it may be low res, but the full size image is 6.5MB and 3508×4961 pixels. It isn’t necessary, will only eat up your 3G of storage space and will cause WordPress.com to resize your image in order to serve it up to website visitors. Better to resize it in a graphics program before uploading. This will also decrease image loading time.

    For images in posts, try and keep them under 100k in file size, and if your site is image heavy, keep them under 75k.

    For header and background images, keep them under 200k (again, smaller than that would be better).
