I am trying to delete the explanations below the about, blog, and contact parts of my home page. The blurbs that are underneath those headings is what I am trying to delete, how do I do that? Also the blog heading is gone and replaced by the heading for my first post I do not know how to fix that either.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

The blurbs that are underneath those headings is what I am trying to delete, how do I do that?

Those are default excerpts. They may be deleted from the Excerpt window at More Options in each page editor. Regarding this location, see the Creating excerpts section of the Excerpts support page.

Also the blog heading is gone and replaced by the heading for my first post I do not know how to fix that either.

Do you mean that you want to change the site title from “On the road to 40…” to something else? The only published post appears to be the one titled Blog.

The site title can be changed at General Settings, as described in the General Settings support page.

Any post title can be edited in the corresponding post editor.

Thank you so much! I was able to change it…regarding the title I figured that out by the time you responded…my next issue as a result of deleting those blurbs is now what I have in those sections are on my home page I do not want that I would like it to be blank and once someone clicks on read more then they read what is in that section…how do I do that please?

    You’re welcome!

my next issue as a result of deleting those blurbs is now what I have in those sections are on my home page I do not want that I would like it to be blank

Just insert a More tag at the top of the page content in the page editor window, then save the edit. That will leave just the featured image and title links, plus the “Read More” button. Each of them — image, title, and “Read More” button — will link to the same page, so you could omit the “Read More” button.

By the way, if your first post is titled “Blog,” then what will the title of the second post be?

  • Unknown's avatar

Thank you so very much I will do that…how do I omit the read more button? The first post is supposed to be named October – January but when I entered that instead of blog it said October – January…I didn’t want that if there is a way to have the right heading to my first post and have the link say blog I would appreciate that…my send post would be named January – February or just January….

    You’re welcome.

how do I omit the read more button?

Sorry, that was a mistake. It can’t be omitted, unless perhaps through CSS customization.

The first post is supposed to be named October – January but when I entered that instead of blog it said October – January…I didn’t want that if there is a way to have the right heading to my first post and have the link say blog I would appreciate that…

I’m not sure what you mean. Have which link say blog? Changing the post title from “Blog” to “October – January” will have no effect upon the menu item “Blog,” which is a link to the blog page, not a link to a single post.

and have the link say blog

Did you mean the link on the front page Featured Page Three, that is set to display the blog page? If so, it looks like Goran has recently changed the design regarding this feature. Originally it would display the title of the blog page (I think), and then list as many posts as were set to display on the site at WP Admin dashboard > Reading Settings > Blog pages show at most, unless there was only one published post. There were many complaints about this, because the list would extend well below the other featured pages on the front page, making the front page look disorderly. Setting the “blog pages show at most” option to “1” would cause only the latest post to display in the front page featured area, but it would restritct the number of posts displayed to one on the blog page, archives pages, and search results as well.

So Goran’s theme author(s) evidently decided to modify the design so that only the latest post displays when you assign the blog page as one of the featured pages on the front page template. At the top of the post, or post excerpt, will be the post title (linked to the post), and a featured image if one is set on that post (also linked to the post).

A better alternative, if you want to display a short list of posts on the front page of Goran, might be to insert Display Posts Shortcode in a text widget that is placed a front page widget area. Display posts shortcode has many customization options. For example, it may be customized to display as many posts as you’d like, include featured images, etc.

    Correction:
“to insert Display Posts Shortcode in a text widget that is placed in a front page widget area.”
