FRONT PAGE/PREVIEW CHANGES ISSUE
-
After I’ve edited the front page on my DVD News Flash: The Reviews blog, and then go to check out the changes by clicking the PREVIEW CHANGES button it takes me to a page of my latest posts instead. I checked out the PREVIEW CHANGES button on my other pages I have posted and those go to the page they’re linked too. As an experiment, I created a duplicate front page and made it my static page and again it goes to a page of my latest posts. For some reason, linking any Front Page as my static page seems to always do this. This is also the case for my Memory Movies blog. Is this a glitch or something else?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there! Thanks for the detailed explanation; that really helps
What you’re seeing isn’t a glitch, but actually how WordPress is designed to work when a page is set as the “Posts Page.”
When a page is assigned as the Posts Page (under Settings → Reading), WordPress automatically uses it to display your latest posts, and it overrides any custom content or layout on that page.
That’s why when you click “Preview Changes,” you’re taken to a list of posts instead of the page content you edited.
This would also explain why creating a duplicate page leads to the same result once it’s assigned as the front page or posts page.
To confirm, you can check:
- Go to Settings → Reading
- Look at what’s set as your Homepage and Posts Page
If you’d like more control over how your front page looks, you can:
- Use a static page for your homepage
- And assign a different page as your Posts Page
Or customize your theme/templates to control how posts are displayed
Let me know what you see there, and I’ll be happy to guide you further

I have a static page set for my Home Page and I don’t have any static page set for my Posts Page. My current static Home Page is what is now, and I was just curious why I couldn’t preview the page after editing it. Just for the hell of it I switched it around (static Posts Page instead) just to see what happened. Okay, just checking to see if that was a glitch or something new. Something new, obviously, since I was able to preview the changes of my static Home Page a week ago. Thanks for letting me know, though, it wasn’t a glitch, which is primarily what I was concerned about.
