Front page setup-Harmonic theme

    I’m having difficulty making my front page look like the demo.
    I’ve read https://harmonicdemo.wordpress.com/front-page-setup/ and it doesn’t seem to help. Is this something I manage from the Dashboard or the Customize sidebar tools?
    I see that in the instructions it shows how to ‘turn off’ sections of the front page template, but how do I turn them on? I can’t seem to get them to appear.
    Is a ‘section’ linked to a ‘page’? Or ‘category’?
    Similar to the demo, I’m trying to create a simple static landing title page, a “news/latest posts/blog” page, and a static “about” page.
