Front page template for Twenty Twelve theme?

My front page template for Twenty Twelve theme doesn’t seem to work. I have set the front page template but the screen is formatted exactly like the default template. What am I doing wrong? I want it to look similar to the theme example shown on WordPress. Can anyone help?

  • Hi there,

Do you mean the homepage as shown in the demo here? http://twentytwelvedemo.wordpress.com/

I see that you have already set up a static homepage, and set it to use the “Front Page Template”, so you’re almost there!

Just a few things you need to do to bring it the rest of the way:

    1) You will need to set a “Featured image” instead of adding it to the text as you have done now. So just delete the image you have there (text only) and then add a featured image following the steps outlined here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/

    2) Go to Appearance > Widgets, and add widgets to the First Front Page Widget Area and Second Front Page Widget Area. In the theme demo, that is the section that has the “Meet the team” and “Recent Posts” displayed.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
