Front page widget

I see on the template that this blog layout comes with the ability to do front page widgets…. but when I go to customize widgets as it instructs me to do, the only widget options I have are for footer and sidebar widgets. how do I add front page widgets??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As long as you haven’t assigned the Front Page template for any of your website’s pages, those front page widgets will not be visible in customize → widgets.
First of all, create a page and make its default template to be“Front Page”, as explained in the picture below:

Once you set a page as a front page of your website, then those widgets will pop up in the customize → widgets:

The steps @wpx2 provided should help with adding widgets to your front page. I see you have already created a Welcome page but it isn’t used the front page template yet — which is why the widget options aren’t available.
