front page/blog page menu link
-
I followed the instructions on this page.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/I set the menu item Blog with the link to the Blog page, as instructed.
The link does go to the Blog page, but the most recent blog post does not display. The page title displays, and then there is a box that says “Older Posts”. When you click the box, you get the most recent post.
This really can’t be how it’s supposed to work? If people want to see the most recent blog post, they click the menu item Blog, they should be able to immediately see the most recent blog post.
Please help me get this page working so it’s easy for the viewers to read the blog post.
PS I am desperate to get this working, I believe I’ve submitted 3 or4 posts asking for help to get this blog operational from the home page, and haven’t received any answers yet. Please help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Did you check your Reading settings to make sure your posts are displayed on Blog page?
Settings>Reading> and then you need to set Blog as the page that shows your posts.

Yes, anamelio, my posts page is set on the blog page. Thanks for asking. I’m sure there’s a way to get this to work! All ideas are appreciated. Kaye

By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.
That is for the convenience of your returning visitors, who come to read your latest post, and who are not likely to be happy with being compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.
However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Do note that your Blog page will be designated as an dynamic page to replace the front page automatic display of all published Posts on it. Hence you need to remove whatever text you have on it now or it cannot and will not function as intended.

Thank you timethief. I’ll work through your comments and test it out. I’ll get back with you with my results. I really appreciate your help. Kaye

Hi timethief,
After carefully reading your post I realized I had done everything you said. So I started over and deleted the posts page. I then followed this process:
1. Created a new page with the title Blog and saved it with no content. Removed showing likes and shares. Published.
2. Went to settings-reading and set the Posts page to “Blog” . Saved
3. Went to Menu, deleted previous Blog Menu option, saved page, added new Blog menu option. From the new Menu option I clicked the new blog page to verify everything was up to date. Saved menu.
4. went to website, clicked on Blog and once again landed on the new Blog page.As you can see, there is no progress. When I click the “older posts” box, the most recent post does display (Blair Rinn Donates…).
What I need is for the most recent post to display when menu item Blog is clicked. And following that, the previous most recent post to display.
Please help. Kaye

Sorry but I’m multitasking from my business and I don’t have the time and focus it takes to sort this out for you. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Another Volunteer may answer prior to Staff but I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thanks very much timethief. I appreciate your help, and your tagging the staff. Best wishes, Kaye
