frustrated and need my domain back asap
-
Hi there I just realize my site is offline, I need to renew my domain. Wish there was an automatic way to do this. Very frustrated with WordPress right now.

Hi foghornstudio
Can you please share the domain name which you wish to renew?
I am tagging this thread as ‘modlook’ for staff attention. Please wait for some time they will get back to you on this.
Also, there is an option for automatic renewal. But you have to check that option.
Here is the support document link that will help you know more about the automatic renewal:

Just as last year, https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/wordpress-is-garbage-i-need-to-renew-my-domain-immediately/, your domain foghornstudio.com expired on 2021-01-04 and is in redemption, https://www.whois.com/whois/foghornstudio.com.
Wait for help from a Staff member. -
Hi there!
As @staartmees mentioned above, your domain expired and is currently in a state called redemption.
We can still get it back for you; however, an $80 fee is needed, apart from the domain registration. here you can read more about that:https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period.
If you decide not to pay, you can wait for the domain to be released and register it again, although we have no control over how long it will take, and someone else may end up registering the domain before you.
Let us know how you’d like to proceed.

Please send a link to pay. Also just curious why so primitive? Links should be automatic, should have a way to login and pay………..this is a very strange way to handle business in 2021. Hopefully you guys upgrade communications before 2022.

The option to easily renew it via the site did exist for a bit of time after expiration, but your domain foghornstudio.com expired on January 4. We sent several email warnings both before and shortly after it expired.
Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 90 days. You can learn more about expired domains here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/
The good news is that we are still able to recover your domain, as it is currently in the Redemption period: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period
A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by our domain partner and is not one which we can waive. That’s in addition to your annual domain renewal from us, so the total is going to be $98.
I have sent a payment request for the total of $98 to the email address on your account. Once the payment is sent, please reply here to let us know, and we will send a note to our domain partner regarding foghornstudio.com. This process only takes about 2-3 days start to finish.

Hi there,
We do not enter a payment link into this public forum as it’s not something we want the public to access. however if you check your email inbox you should see it there. To be safe I have just sent a second copy of the email (then link to pay is inside the email message)
If you are not sure which inbox to check, we sent it to the address listed here: https://wordpress.com/me/account/
Hope this helps!

Payment received!
I have contacted our domain partner, and we’ll let you know as soon as it has been recovered.

Now that I have paid to redeem my domain, you are pointing it to an old WordPress site instead of my Squarespace website, how do I transfer my domain to Squarespace so I can atlast be free from this WordPress nightmare?
-
-
or how do I link this to my Squarespace like before?
You would need to update your domain’s name servers to point back to your Squarespace site by following the steps here:
It looks like you need to start that process on Squarespace’s end according to their documentation:
https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812378
If you have trouble configuring your domain or if you have any questions, just let us know!
I hope that helps!
