Frustrated with EXCERPTS
-
I use the excerpt field on my site’s posts (using elementor) heavily because I rely on the “posts” widget to create dynamic content on the page making it easy to add content later that will show up.
From my struggles learning WordPress, it appears that only POSTS have the ability to control the Except verbiage, while PAGES do not.
The format I’ve been using is
Home(page)>United States(page)>state(page)>local location(page)>activity(post)
example page: https://travel-curious.com/utah/green-river-utah/However it is difficult to control the excepts for the PAGES without the excerpt option which doesn’t exist, so I wonder if there is any reason not to just make every PAGE, just a POST. I have not found a plug-in that allows you to put an excerpt on a PAGE.
One thing I discovered by accident was using a plugin that would allow you to change a POST to a PAGE or vice versa was when I created a POST and filled in the excerpt field, when I converted that POST to a PAGE there was no option now to edit an excerpt field, but the except I created while it was a POST is still there. However, I don’t want to use that procedure as a work around to get control of excerpts on PAGES.
Any ideas? Should I just make all my PAGES into POSTS and be done with it? Would there be any disadvantages?

Hi there,
Please contact Elementor support directly for help with this.
The forum you’re posting to now is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. But your site isn’t hosted on our servers, and we also don’t make the Elementor plugin, so we’re not able to help with this.
For general help and advice with the open source WordPress software you’re using, you can ask the WordPress.org community, who makes that software, in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
