Frustration with the “new” widget page

I don’t know if there’s anything that can be done, but the new way to add and revise widgets is anything but user-friendly. If I want to change the html, I can’t select the text and instead have to hold down the “delete” or “backspace” key – which is archaic! Also how they have the widgets listed is not easy to follow.

I wanted to remove a text widget from my page (deactivate it so to speak), but instead of saving it on the left hand column where all the unused widgets were listed, it was completely deleted! If I ever want it back I’ll have to start from scratch, and even then I don’t see where I can add another text widget.

    WordPress, what did you do???

The widgets loosing their content when removed from a sidebar I think will be corrected within a month as it is on trac to hit the single-user self-hosted version of WordPress in 2.5.1 on 5/6. It should follow here probably a couple weeks after that.

The problem with selecting text in a widget I have seen in IE6 and 7. What browser and version are you using?

If you are using IE, I would suggest downloading and using Firefox for working with WordPress. Once the issues with the widget editing and such are worked out with IE, then you can, if you wish, uninstall Firefox.
