FSE themes are killing me! Where is the single.php file???

    Hi

I am going crazy trying to find the relevant php files to these newfangled FSE themes. I don’t even know how to avoid the FSE themes because you don’t know until you install it and then check to see if FSE is working on them. crazy.

anyway, I’ve had 3 professional WordPress developers stumped with this FSE theme. they can’t find the files either. I’ve tried searching through SFTP, myPHPadmin, the Themes file tool, etc. FSE themes seem to be missing most php files. And the FSE editor certainly doesn’t allow editing of ANY php files.

    anyone have any ideas?

this is driving me nuts. and all I need to do is paste in two simple lines of code into the single.php file to fix my issue..

    Man!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

From what you tell it looks you aren’t talking about a site running on the wordpress.com platform but a site using the open source wordpress.org and being hosted by a third party. You can get help at https://wordpress.org/support/

  • Hi there,

I see you’ve already been helped with this via live chat support, so I’m marking this thread as resolved.

For the sake of anyone else looking for this information, block/FSE themes don’t have a single.php file like classic WordPress themes. Instead, block themes use a theme.json file to define the overall look of the theme, with templates themselves created and modified in the site editor.

    ,

The OP’s site is hosted on WordPress.com on the Pro plan, and they’re using the Geologist theme that we make :)
