FTP access to new domain?
-
Hello.
My wordpress blog is at ecgblog.wordpress.com. I have been adminstering my blog only via the wordpress web interface. I never downloaded WordPress.
Now I want install third party themes and addons, so I need ftp access to the blog folders. Therefore, I clicked “add new domain to your blog”, and paid 14.97 credits for ecgblog.com. When I access ecgblog.com, I get redirected to my old blog. But I thought that I bought the domain ecgblog.com? How come I never got any info on how to access this domain via ftp?
I’m confused. Please help..
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot access your wordpress.com blog via FTP
http://support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
or scroll down to the very bottom here:

Adding a domain will not change that. -
You cannot add external themes, either. Not even with the CSS upgrade.
Also, you need to set ecgblog.com as your PRIMARY domain, on the domains page.

But I’ve read so much about 3rd party WordPress themes?! Google has 1.7 million hits on the query “WordPress themes”. And I’ve seen many WordPress themes with modified themes, flash based themes, etc.
Take for instance these: http://www.bestwpthemes.com/10-free-wordpress-themes-that-blow-many-premium-themes-away/How do I get to use such themes with my WP blog?

lapsklaus – Those are blogs using software provided by wordpress.ORG (“powered by WordPress” is often seen on them). This forum sticky will clarify:

a quick forum search shows that there have been four or five of these kinds of questions every day for at least a week. The answer is always the same.
