FTP and Customize Site

  • Unknown's avatar

    I have a WordPress.com Premium site.
    1. Is an FTP interface available for my site?
    2. How can I remove the “Leave a Reply” message and box from the pages on the site?
    3. I am using the Bushwick Theme. On each page, it contains “Blog at WordPress.com. The Bushwick Theme.” messages. Is it legal to remove these messages from the pages on the site? (I wasn’t sure – since the Bushwick Theme is free). If it is legal to remove the messages, how would I go about doing so?
    4. I have 3 websites I have on my account. Is it possible to create a user that will have administrative rights to one of my sites only?

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • 1. No. WordPress.com blogs do not have any FTP access, whether you have an upgrade, or a custom domain, or not. If you want to have FTP access you’ll need to get a self-hosted wordpress.ORG website: http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/

    2. See here for the different options to enable/disable comments: http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/

    3. Removing the footer text is definitely against the terms of service and doing so can get your blog suspended, so don’t try it – https://en.wordpress.com/tos/ (see item 11) This applies to both free and premium themes.

    4. Definitely. Log out of your wordpress account and register a new one under a different username and email address. When the system asks you to pick a blog URL, look for the option that says to proceed without creating a blog. Once you have the new account verified, log out and log back into your regular wordpress account. Go to the dashboard of the blog in question and click on Users ->Add new. Type in the username or email of the new account and select the user role and send the invitation. Lastly, log out again, log in under the new username, go to that email account and click on the confirmation link in the invitation email and the new user will be added.

If you intend on using both accounts to use this blog, just make sure you’re always logged in under the right account as whichever one you’re logged in under will be the one leaving and responding to comments. When creating posts you can select the author, no matter the account you’re logged in under.

It is also possible to transfer ownership of the blog from your account to the other one if you’d prefer to have it removed from your current account completely.
