Fuelmyblog fuelroll display issue.

Fuelmyblog is now offering a fuelroll option. It’s pasted into a text widget (in html since the javascript option isn’t suitable for Wp.com users) and I’ve just spent way too long trying to get mine to display properly in my sidebar. It displays properly over at the blog of fuelmyblog owner Sylvie Dixie… who uses a WP dot com blog. Mine won’t. It shows each avatar on a line of it’s own instead of five per line. It’s not the overall size of the thing, I’ve already checked. It’s 150 wide and I’ve got badges wider than that on my sidebar. Is it just a bug in the Blix theme?

I pasted the same fuelroll code into a post, and into a text widget in my sidebar so that the helpful soul who will try have a stab at figuring this out can see what I’m talking about. Any ideas would be helpful. Here’s the url for Sylvie’s blog (http://sylvied.wordpress.com/) in case anyone wants to compare. I hope posting her url isn’t a no no. I only mean to use it as an example of my problem, not to re-direct traffic.

And let me thank you in advance. Just by reading this, you deserve a thank you. It means you’re spending time helping out others. Thanks for that.

The Blix theme has quirks and one of them is the way the blogroll links are displayed in the sidebar. Have you tried simply switching to another theme temporarily to see what happens? If you do this and it does display properly in another theme than at least we will know that much.

Alternativel, if you post the code here for the widget between backticks like this then we can try the widget with different themes on a test blog for you and see how it goes.

I’m off to do just that.

Well we can’t edit and the backtick marks disappeared. This is a ` backtick. It’s found on north american keyboards one key to the left of the number 1 key, in lower case, under the ~

Ok, so it is the Blix theme. I just trialed the same theme as Sylvie uses and it works.

I’ve had a couple of other things with the theme so I guess I might have to find another one. I’ve tried to hang on to it because it’s got so many other reasons I like it. I’m sad now.

I should let Sylvie know though… and maybe it’s good I posted this because if others have issues trying to post a fuelroll at least this will come up in a search and they’ll find out it might be their theme.

Thanks again tt. Have you joined fuel? If so, let me know so I can find you and add you to the roll.

    @fracas
Here’s the link to the entry on some other Blix quirks http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/02/21/blix-theme-quirks/
No I haven’t joined. I read the stuff on the site and did not feel any compelling reason to do so. I’m not into any of what’s offered there.

The post about Blix reads this:

“With its fantastic funky structure, it has to overwrite some of the default widgets to make everything look great. That is why you can’t rename the recent posts widget from Most Recent Posts nor change it from showing 10 posts.”

Hmmm. I do have my “most recent posts” widget renamed, and the count set to other than 10. I call it “I fracced” and I have it set at 8. I also have my recent comments widget renamed to “You fracced”.

Indeed, the theme doesn’t allow renaming the blogroll widget, and I did have some issues with the pop-down lists not working when they were first offered, but those have been resolved somehow since I do have two pop-downs functioning now.

(I was the $500 winner of their October contest, and have found some truly awesome people through there. Just thought I’d ask and see. I’ve come across some people I knew before that were there all the time and I hadn’t realized it, so just thought I’d ask in case you were in there somewhere and I didn’t know.)

Thank you for thinking of me. I do appreciate it. :-)
