Full content posts to show summary

I’m trying to figure out how to show a summary rather than the full content of posts on my blog’s home page. It’s driving me crazy that I can’t figure this out and I’m not the best at HTML or web management. I want to be able to put a “read more” link in my post so readers can go to another page. Can someone please help me with a very simple way to do so. Thanks.
