Full List of Plugins for WP

I just signed up in the hope that I’d be able to then see the full range of plugins available to me, but alas no, seems I have to go Premium before such useful information will be shared.

Can anyone point me to a FULL list please?

    Hi there splashweb1,

A couple things to note here. WordPress.com does not use 3rd party plugins or themes. All functionality is contained and maintained in-house to uphold quality and security standards for all users.

If you’d like to set up WordPress on a self-hosted server, you can do so and install 3rd party plugins and themes how you see fit. As of now it appears there 39,868, so it’s best if you have an idea of what you want to do and then try to find a plugin for the that purpose. Here’s the page for WordPress.org plugins: https://wordpress.org/plugins/

Also here’s a bit more information on the difference between .com (where you are now), and .org (where the plugins are) if that can help decide which platform is better for your situation: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Let me know if you have any other questions about any of that.

Yup, thanks, I’m aware of all of that.

So no definitive list of [plugin] features then, until I “go Premium”?

There is a general list of some Plugin’s somewhere, but last I looked it is incomplete

To see the “Plugin’s” – look at your Widgets, many of them started as a Plugin or do about the same thing as a Plugin.

There are also many short codes that let you do things that would otherwise take a Plugin

Exactly what can’t you live without?

I did find a list of plugins available on wordpress.com, and yes, they did refer to them as plugins, but it was stated as being an incomplete list. To find that page I had to search in G, as the WordPress.com site is lacking much in the way of navigation. So I caved in and signed up, but a list of features still eludes me.

The one plugin that springs to mind as apparently absent is a directory listing feature, preferably one that can be monitised.

I’m assuming the pages you already saw were this one for everyone (I agree the documentation is a bit vague here by mentioning it’s not exhaustive but not pointing anywhere to possibly missing functionality) and this one for vip correct?

It doesn’t look like there’s an exhaustive list anywhere of all functionality that was at some point integrated from plugins, though any functionality should be detailed in the support section (note you can search on this page for functionality you’re looking for).

If you can’t find the functionality you’re looking for though, note you can request it be added via the method provided on the Plugin support page:

    Plugin Requests

If there is a plugin that you feel is a must-have and would benefit users on WordPress.com, then please let us know in the ideas forum! Tell us what plugin you want, where it can be downloaded and most importantly, why you think it should be included on WordPress.com. All of the feedback is read, and we’re collecting the most numerous requests for implementation.

You may also be best served by the self-hosted option in this case if WordPress.com doesn’t have the functionality you need integrated (I couldn’t find any reference of the directory listing functionality you mention above other than others mentioning it isn’t available in WordPress.com). You can get started with that here: https://wordpress.org/.

Sorry if any of that is redundant, I know it doesn’t quite lead you to what you’re looking for (as I failed to find it as well). If you have any questions about whether any other functionality is or isn’t included in WordPress.com let us know.

Yes, those were the pages I found. Thanks too for the Support link, there was some content in there I haven’t seen, including the idea of creating a blogroll and using it with the Links Widget. This would go some of the way towards creating some directory type listings, but it’s not really what I’m looking for.

It is frustrating that there’s provision made for ecommerce stores but not apparently any form of directory listings. If I go this route then I’ll certainly make a recommendation within Plugin Requests.

There is the Archives Short Code – I use it to make a list of all my Posts
