Full management in adding new article in self hosted blog
-
I have self hosted blogs that use wordpress but i have some questions about when i add a new article to it.
When I’m writing the article the options I have isn’t the sames i have when i write directly on my blog administration.
For example yoast seo article definitons dont show here. I have to go directly to blog dashboard to define focus keyword.
This is really so or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Hi there,
This is the wordpress.COM support forum. We do not provide support for wordpress.ORG software installs. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_PageSee also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/

Sorry if i dont explain well what i need.
Here in wordpress.com i can manage self hosted blogs. In left top corner there is a option to manage my blogs including self hosted blogs that are conected here through jetpack.
Through here if i add a new article i dont have the option to configure yoast seo for example.
Maybe this works this way I only want to know if i’m doing something wrong or not.Thanks

@casteloes
You won’t see those options if you write a post via the new WordPress.com interface, no. You will need to use your WP-Admin editor to access custom fields added by your plugins. -

As in the past you can refer them to Jetpack support or the Jetpack plugin forum on WordPress.org:

Once we volunteers finally figure out whether the OP is a wp.org or wp.com user and how the OP is trying to post, just saying…
My 2¢/Since there is a dedicated support forum on dotorg for jetpack users (“Manage” is a jetpack module), and a dedicated support forum for phone/tablet app users, I’m not quite sure I understand the need to handle support for the Windows desktop app here in the dotcom forum. Where are the dotorg Mac desktop users being supported (or don’t they have any problems or questions)?
/My 2¢ -
Also, and perhaps more importantly, since previous forum replies create a body of support documentation, anyone who is a dotorg user is most likely never going to see the replies that have been posted here. It would be more likely if questions/replies were posted in the jetpack support forum.

@justjennifer
For Jetpack questions the Jetpack forums are the best place, and the same applies to the mobile apps.But the desktop app is a WordPress.com product, developed completely in-house, and there isn’t a .org forum for it like with the mobile apps. For all intents and purposes, the desktop app is identical to the My Sites dashboard.
Jetpack users are able to use the desktop app and new dashboard, even though it doesn’t support self-hosted plugin features. That does blur the lines a bit when it comes to support, and I agree that it’s less than ideal, but at the moment the WordPress.com support channels are the primary place for desktop app support.
I haven’t personally come across any support issues for the Mac desktop app, from either .com or .org users. I don’t have an explanation for that, except that perhaps more people are using Windows, so the chance of users encountering problems is bigger for that version of the app.

@kokkieh – So by your explanation, using any WordPress desktop app (*not* Jetpack-Manage) with a dotorg site is a WordPressdotcom support issue. Understood, thanks. Being exclusively a WordPressdotcom user for the last 9+ years does not give me the tools to assist such users, so those threads I do encounter will be tagged for Staff.
I still suggest a dedicated desktop app forum on desktop.wordpress.com, exactly like there is today with the phone apps.
==FIN==

I understand why you’d prefer this. I’ll make sure to communicate your suggestion to the rest of the team. Thanks :)
