Full-sized images are truncated

I recently upgraded the OS on both my wordpress host (minor update) and the nginx host that sits in front of it (major update). In the process I tweaked a few settings, but none I can think of that would be relevant to this. But since then, all the image uploads I do have worked fine, but when I try to download one of my full-sized images, I only get about the first 120k to 140k of it. (It is possible that it’s actually exactly 128k and the browser’s image rendering engine that saves it is padding it somehow, but I don’t think so… the actual size downloaded seems to be inconsistent. Possibly this is an artifact of differing http header sizes or something like that? Or… god, I dunno.)

The images are definitely perfectly fine after upload. I can download them via scp, they’re there, they’re fine. No issues. And the downloads are recognizably the correct picture. It’s just that you only see the top 10% of them or so. Vis:
