“Full text” option for feeds has no effect
-
I would like my RSS feed to be have the full text of my posts, not just a summary.
In the dashboard, I went to Options->Reading, and made sure it was set to “Full text” instead of “Summary”.
However, my feed continues to be only the first 300 characters or so of each post. This is also the case for the rss, rss2, and atom URLs.
Switching it to summary then back to full text did nothing. Changing the number of posts shown worked immediately, so it’s not a propagation/cache issue.

Any advice much appreciated, thanks!

Hello,
This is a theme dependent feature. On some themes the summary is all you get even if you set the feeds to “full”. -
Are you using the more tag to split your posts? If so, the feed will only contain the text down to the more tag.

I can see your two posts. Neither is split by use of the “more” tag.
FWIW at wordpress.com we can offer email updates through feedburner http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/11/how-can-i-offer-email-updates/ -
The feed will always contain the “read more” link at the bottom so that those subscribing to your feed can get to your blog, and that article in case they would want to leave a comment, or read comment on that post. It’s just another way for your subscribers to get to your blog to look around.

However, my feed continues to be only the first 300 characters or so of each post.
What feed reader are you using? It may be a limitation set by the reader.
-
Looks like what’s happening is that the
<description>tag always contains a 300 character summary, while the full content is published in a<content:encoded>tag.Firefox and most RSS show the description, so I guess I’ll write something to grab the content:encoded one directly.
Thanks for the help.

hello,
I have the same problem, although a different blog from Blogger works just fine.My blog is:
http://cameraescura.wordpress.com/I wish to call FULL TEXT in my web site:
http://foto.nonada.flog.br/The blog “Temporal” is hosted at Blogger and they send Feed with full texts. The feeds created at WordPress are limited and I can´t figure out why. (if it is a theme dependent feature, anyone knows a theme that let Full Texts Feeds?).
Is there a solution? (other than moving to Blogger).
thanks,
luish
