Full width page with Coraline theme

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m using Coraline theme for more than a year and like it very much.
My problem is that the theme has narrow appearance, which doesn’t utilize the space my readers have in their wide screens.
    Can I adjust it?

    Thanks,
    Michael

With Coraline being a “reactive” design, you could make it wider and then if someone is viewing with a narrower browser/screen the theme will adjust. You can make the theme as wide as you want, but it requires modification of the CSS and that requires the Custom Design Upgrade.

One other thing to consider is that reactive designs typically rely on the browser to scale (reduce/enlarge) images when the browser window is narrowed or widened, and that means that image quality will suffer (browsers are really lousy at image resizing) when you have a really wide basic design and then try and view the images on a smartphone.

Thank you very much for you answer.

    My site is eyelevel.co.il
(I was sure it will appear with my user name).

Where can I find specific instruction how to make it wider with CSS modification?

I should also mention that this isn’t just a matter of setting one number to a big number, it will require adjustments to a variety of other things in the CSS and your header image will be toast. It will have to be size for the new width and then inserted into the site via CSS instead of the custom header uploader. This will also mean that it is very likely that the image will lose the resizing feature when a monitor is narrower than your set size so the image will end up being cropped on the right side.
