Full WordPress Suite Required on Harddartz Website
-
Hi Guys,
My friends are having some issues with their site. They have asked me to help them out here and have provided me with access to their dashboard, their domain registrar, and their hosting company. Although they have all this they are also paying for a wordpress.com Premium site.
They really need to be able to use the full WordPress suite (not the limited WordPress.com version). We would like to be able to upload a theme for a start and we can not do this with our current dashboard.
They have their domain registered with crazy domains and are currently paying a hosting company that they are not using. Obviously, this is not ideal.
My question is: if we point the DNS / name Server info from their domain registrar to their hosting company and then do a one click install of the full WordPress suite (which is offered by their hosting company), will we then be able to 1. Use the full WordPress suite. 2. Retain the content that is already on our site. 3. Let their wordpress.com premium account expire will no ill effect?
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Jason and Russ.

Hi there,
If you do point your domain’s nameservers towards your hosting account, then yes you can of course do a full WordPress.org installation. You can then do a migration of all content over from the old WordPress.com account in to the newer WordPress.org account.
You can read more about moving from .com to .org right here:
