Functionalities wordpress provide

I need to know if wordpress allows me to build complex functionalities such as video calling, video conferencing along with my online store

  • Hi @teamdiligence, WordPress itself doesn’t, but there’s likely a plugin that’ll help with just that.

WooCommerce is a free plugin that has hundreds of extensions, so one of those or even a combination of them may work well for you. I’d recommend reaching out to Sales here. You can choose the “Specific extension” option and just describe the specific features you need:

Also: if you have outside plugins you’d like to install on our managed hosting service, you will need our Business plan, because outside plugins and themes add complexity to our support and maintenance.

Our service includes hosting, as well as SSL, direct WordPress support, maintenance, security, and many other features that tend to cost extra with other providers.

Or, you are welcome to use your own free copy of WordPress with another host, and use community resources or hired contractors as needed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

That link dosent really has what I need.
My question is, I want to provide 1 – 1 (customer – client) video calling feature, where customers can request for an instant meeting or schedule an upcoming meeting.
What prerequisites does WordPress provide for the same, also if there are specific plugins for that or anything.
And it would be really helpful if I can talk to someone over call or ATLEAST a live chat b’cause community dosent really help here. I am just getting some flying answers which are totally off topic or just assumptions.
I need to purchase a subscription but I need to confirm these things first before purchasing or I’ll just look out for other platforms who have active customer support executives
    Thankyou

  • Ah, thanks for sharing a few more specifics. Based on what you’ve shared so far, have you considered using Calendly for scheduling? I don’t work directly with them, but I’ve used their tools for scheduling 1:1 video sessions just like you’ll be doing.

When I used it it regularly, it could connect to a Google or iCloud calendar to check for availability, and automatically adds new appointments to your calendar so you won’t get double booked. They may have added more calendar options since then, but I think those two cover most folks.

If you choose to use Calendly, I’d recommend checking in with their support as you get set up and do a few test schedules just to be sure your availability is right, then it works very well.

And it can be embedded on WordPress.com with our Premium plan:

Calendly has free options as well as paid options that would collect payments. WordPress.com Premium would also allow you to securely take payments through your site, though it wouldn’t be directly connected to scheduling. Depending on how you want to do things, that might still work well for you.

Premium also comes with lots of great options for themes, page templates, and layouts, with quite a bit of customizability.

Would that fit the bill? The only thing left would be for you to choose which video conferencing tool to use, but I assume you’d use an existing service since most folks have Zoom or something similar installed by now.

Regarding chat: we don’t currently have phone or chat-based presales support for WordPress.com, but we can email you if you’d like.

And our annual Premium and Business plans both come with 24 hour live chat (5 days per week for Premium and 7 for Business). If you wanted to, you could buy one and open a chat right away. If you decide from there that it’s not for you, we do have a refund window you can take advantage of:

If you’d like us to reach out by email, just let us know and we’ll do that.

    Cheers!
