Functionality of Enterprise theme

  In the Demo page of the Enterprise theme, the page displays the date on the right side of the menu bar see here: http://www.studiopress.com/demo/enterprise.html). How can I achieve this if I were to use the Enterprise theme on my site which is hosted at WordPress.com?
  Also, on the Demo page the theme also seems to have a featured image function, which displays on CSS code as “wrap”. Is this possible to do on WordPress.com? How? If it worked, would it be placed anywhere on the page, or does it need to be placed where it appears on the Demo page?
