Future Multilingual Option?
-
I am also interested in creating a bilingual blog (hopefully trilingual in the not-too-distant future). This forum has helped me realize that there are no very good solutions on wordpress.com at this time. Had I known this when I started the blog, I might have looked for another blog server. However, there may be no one that offers multilingual options on a free blog, and I am otherwise very happy with WordPress.com. Rather than ask the same question as the other… looks like 44 users have asked, I would like to know if there are any plans at WordPress.com for creating a multilingual option?
The arguments for doing so would be that you may be the only one providing that option, and I would be willing to pay a small fee for that addition. I’m sure others would also be willing to pay for such an addition. Also the world is growing smaller and increasingly multilingual, so a multilingual blog option is only going to grow more attractive and the market for it larger. And no matter how good machines get at translation, it will be a long time – if ever – before they can capture the nuance in language.
So are there any future plans to fill this gap in WordPress.com’s service? Any way those of us interested could sign up to be notified when it does happen?

At this time there is no FTP access to our free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install plugins. We cannot use Microsoft or Google translation widgets or any other JavaScript widgets, as the code is stripped out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

Note: You can copy and paste the code on my Translations page and then replace every occurrence of my blog’s URL in the code with your own blog’s URL.Re: bilingual blogging and/or mutlilingual blogging
If you are bilingual or multilingual and want to publish your free hosted WordPress.com in two or more languages but do not want to rely on machine translation that can be done. You can have two or more blogs in different languages and interlink them via categories and custom menus. There’s also a workaround for publishing posts in two or more languages in the same blog. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/02/25/wordpress-com-multilingual-blogs/

Not that I am aware of. You can post into the Ideas Forum as many have done previously and subscribe to the thread for notification. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas
