G suite domain mapping
-
Hi, I hope I can make this question clear. I purchased a domain through G suite a few years back (when it was google apps). I did this mainly to have a gmail account with my own domain name. I then separately opened a wordpress.com account and created a website using a different free domain name. So then I wanted to link my G suite domain to my wordpress.com website: so that when someone types my g suite domain they are directed to the wordpress site. I did this by setting the wordpress site as the forwarding domain (from within the google domain manager platform). This seems to work okay, so my question is this.. is any further benefit to be gained by mapping my G suite domain to my wordpress account using the wordpress platform? Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @iansuttoni,
It depends on which one you want to use as the primary domain. If you want your domain that is here with us to be primary, what you’ve got will work just fine, as long as you are not doing a “framed” or “stealth” redirect. Basically if someone types the G Suite domain, they need to be sent to the new domain, and they need to be able to see the new name in their address bar.
If you want the G Suite name in the address bar, I highly recommend mapping instead, otherwise people — and search engines for that matter — will have trouble linking to pages and posts within your site.
