Gaining control of URL

    Hi,

I have found WordPress to be difficult to use, mainly due to the restrictiveness of the Themes, and was wondering if it is possible to delete my account whilst keeping control of my URL (TMFaktory.com)

In a perfect world I would like to delete my wordpress account and then buy the domain on it’s own with out the WordPress.com connection so I can write my own HTML.

Is this possible? In the support it says “I’m sure I want to permanently disable my site, and I am aware I can never get it back or use sitename.wordpress.com again”. Does this include the domain TMFaktory.com also? (which is registered through WordPress).

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Alex. You can either:
    – transfer your domain name to a new domain name registrar, if you bought it more than 60 days ago
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#transfer-to-another-registrar
    OR
    – simply change the nameservers for those of your new hosting provider.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

    Two more things:

In a perfect world I would like to delete my wordpress account and then buy the domain on it’s own with out the WordPress.com connection so I can write my own HTML.

In a perfect world, yes. But in the real world, if that were to happen, you’d run the risk of someone buying back your domain name before you… and putting it up for sale at several times its price.

“I’m sure I want to permanently disable my site, and I am aware I can never get it back or use sitename.wordpress.com again”. Does this include the domain TMFaktory.com also?

    No. It only includes sitename.wordpress.com.

Thank you very much for the reply.
I want to move my blogger blog on to the TMFaktory.com DNS and I think I have figured out most of it. I have gone to the Custom DNS Domains page, and entered “CNAME www ghs.google.com.” I then just have to go to blogger and set up the custom URL.
    Does that sound about right?

It kind of makes sense, but I still can’t seem to figure it out.. maybe i’m being a bit useless…

All the guides I find say similar things, but I aren’t directly applicable to my situation, so I’m not 100% sure what exactly I should be doing.
