Galleries – arg!

  Hi there!
  I have rather large galleries of about 50 pictures. If I post a gallery of this size using thumbnails, cool mosaic or circles, all 50 show up in the post. The workaround i have is to use slideshow, but the user can’t click on the image to see a bigger version in a carousel. so here are my questions…

  1. Is there a way to have a gallery of 50 pictures in a cool mosaic, but only display say 1- pictures in the mosaic with the rest available through the carousel?
  2. Is there a way to use slideshow so when the user clicks on the picture the carousel opens?

  1. No, not using the Gallery feature directly. See this workaround of mine: http://agallerydemo.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/using-a-single-image-as-a-gallery-portal/

  This is not an easy workaround because all the images must be uploaded together to the post where they are to appear together and must be uploaded in the order in which you want them to appear. This is because Attachment Pages cannot be “reordered” like the display in the Photo Carousel can.

  In my opinion, the most viable solution is to create multiple Galleries in the same post so you can split up your post with pagination. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/nextpage/
