Galleries show images in wrong order

As above. I discovered this 2-3 months ago. In posts, galleries cannot be viewed in proper order. Even having images numbered from the first up to the last photo is no use. What happened and why. I would appreciate if somebody could help me with that issue.

Is there a specific Post/Page with a Gallery where you noticed this?
Looking at the site linked to your username tomaszbrys.wordpress.com I can say:
1. When you use the tiled mosaic style gallery, there’s an algorithm that determines what image goes where based on the ratio of portrait/landscape images. This may put your images in a different order.
2. You are linking your Gallery images to their Attachment page rather than to the Photo Carousel. The down side to this is that images will display in the order they were uploaded and it is not possible to reorder them.
3. If you want to change the sort order, you’ll need switch to displaying the images in the Photo Carousel.
4. You should be able to modify the Gallery shortcode by switching to the HTML Editor tab and adding a parameter. https://en.support.wordpress.com/gallery/#gallery-shortcode It’s not currently possible to do this directly through the Gallery feature itself.

Now i seem to understand more less what’s the reason of my complications. Publishing posts with galleries worked great until november last year . Now , to get things work together as they used to , i have to become familiar with html code or display my images in photo carousel which is definitely against my vision. Uff… Anyway thank you for your explanation .

You’re welcome, but don’t feel discouraged. If you need help with the shortcode, do post back here.
The easiest way to do this is to first insert your Gallery and then switch to the HTML tag to add the orderby parameter.
Again, if you are linking to Attachment pages, you may only see the change in the order of the Gallery thumbnail images, but not when someone clicks on the image to open it in a larger version. There it will still display by upload order.

I discovered that when i create a post using traditional admin menu – my galleries work as i want them to. But when i create a post using this new calypso interface , i find problems with viewing images in proper order.
So i’ll just stay with the old way of uploading posts on wordpress. It is faster and simpler. However i’ll keep in mind your advice for the future. Thanks.
