Gallery Block Not Displaying – Help

    Media does not load. Captions showing on greyed boxes. Space is over written by link urls to the media, all garbled.

    This seems to be the case on the desk top and iPhone. On iPad it just says Problem Displaying Gallery Block.

    Last on the site November 2, the problem wasn’t there at that time.

    Hi there,

    You are referring to the image gallery in pages like this one?

    I noticed in that you do not have any of those images present in your media library here: https://wordpress.com/media/

    Did you delete images from your media library? I see about 6 months ago many image were deleted when I check the activity log for your site. Please be aware that if you delete images from your media library, this will also remove the image from the page it is embedded on, so you may need to re-upload the images you deleted, and set up the page galleries again with the new images.

    I checked. All images were in my media library. I deleted all my gallery blocks.

    I recreated a small gallery with 2 images and had the same result. Not sure what the problem is and don’t have the time or patience to troubleshoot further.

    At this point, I’m giving up and don’t care. I’ve deleted the gallery and posted a few single images for now.

    Will be looking something easier to display my work.

    Hi there,

    Can you create a gallery and give us a link to the post/page so we can take a look? If we’re able to see the issue in action, we might be able to offer some ideas.

    It would also be helpful if you can tell us the steps you followed to create the gallery.

    Hi

    I had the issue in place when I posted the question and was told it’s my media that’s missing, which was not the case.

    Steps
    – add a block
    – select gallery
    – drag pic into the block
    – add caption
    – drag another pic into the block
    – add caption
    – click update

    I did not do anything special.

    In fact it was working a couple of weeks ago.

    Wish I had had your response right from the outset.

    I’ve certainly lost confidence with the platform as a result.

    I am a painter not a web tech so have found the platform difficult. Hard to make things display the way I would like and if something goes wrong (either in the software update, the theme or how I implemented), it’s a show stopper.

    I appreciate the free version, but frankly it’s a stopgap until I find something more user friendly.
