Hi there, can you please provide a link to a page/post where you are doing this? (The site you’ve linked to has never been updated and is using Kubrick, long since retired.)

In general the Gallery groups photos together. If you want short paragraphs between those groups, you can do that by adding several Gallery blocks to your post/page.

with the old editor, I could simply upload all the visual media, and break it up–even in code view, it seems the gallery remains as a unassailable block.

Why this working method? to get all the images in the post at once and see the flow and where text is required to speed up or slow down that flow.

    Thanks.

So it looks like your site is using the open source WordPress software and that’s not something we can help you with here. This support forum assists users of the WordPressdotcom platform. WordPressdotcom (where we are ) and WordPress are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. More information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

For help with a site using the open source WordPress software, you’ll want to head over to https://wordpress.org/support where they have more experience with the software you are using. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on the top of that page.
