gallery column setting gone?

  What happened to settings for gallery? Being able to adjust the number of photos in a row is essential. Where has it gone? There is now no way to compress a larger gallery??? What were you thinking?

  the number of photos in a row can be defined in the column settings of the gallery block.

  That’s how I usually do it. But that option is not showing up in the sidebar.
  I tested different browsers and no col adj for gallery

  Hi there,

  The columns option is there, but you need to select the correct block:

  The new version of the open source WordPress software that’s coming out soon on WordPress.org comes with an updated gallery block, and that’s already available here on WordPress.com. With the old gallery block, if you clicked on an image in the block, it automatically selected the block itself, as the gallery was just one block, containing a number of images.

  But the new gallery block essentially creates a grid of individual image blocks, so if you click on a specific image in the gallery, you’ll see the options for that image block in the sidebar. What you want to do is select the gallery block containing those image blocks instead.

  There are three ways to do this:

  1) Try clicking on the white space between two gallery images.

  2) Click on the first image in the gallery, and click the up-arrow on your keyboard

  In both cases, the sidebar on the right should show “Gallery” at the top. If it says “Image”, you’ve selected an individual image rather than the full gallery.

  3) Click the icon showing three lines top left in the editor. That will open an index of all the blocks in use on the page, then you can select the gallery block directly from there:

  Thanks. Makes it less intuitive but I found it.
